relax Frown Lines & Crows' Feet

"Rosie is lovely, but more to the point after 18 months of 3 monthly Botox injections I have virtually no lines. I had a very lined forehead & crows' feet before I started seeing Rosie.

I have fewer lines now than I have had for 25 years. AND I look normal, just a much less haggard version of me. I don't remotely look like an over injected / frozen faced celebrity."

Botox Treatment FAQ

How does botox work?
  • Botox is a prescription only muscle-relaxant which uses the toxin produced by the bacteria responsible for botulism in food poisoning. Amounts of toxin used in aesthetics procedures are minimal and are injected using a micro needle relaxing the ‘expression’ muscles.
  • One of our key aims when injecting Botox is to ensure that facial expressions are minimally affected, for an entirely natural result; so you look well-rested and calm rather than like you have had a procedure.
who performs botox treatments at Oxford & leamington facial aesthetics?
  • Rosie Cooper carries out all aesthetics treatments at our clinics and is the owner of Oxford & Leamington Facial Aesthetics.
  • As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Aesthetics and Midwife, with 3 masters level qualifications including Pharmacology and Musculo-Skeletal medicine, Rosie is recognised as one of the most highly qualified and experienced aesthetics specialists in the UK. She has built an enviable reputation and client base across Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and further afield for Botox treatments.
  • Aside from advanced clinical skills, Rosie's friendly and caring manner will immediately put you at ease
botox for men - is there any difference?
  • Please rest assured that we treat many men for Botox - and it is just as effective, safe and popular a procedure as for women
  • It is true that men will generally require more Botox in order to achieve the same natural-looking results
  • The best thing is to see Rosie in person and she will be able to advise you according to your concerns and the results that you are looking to achieve
is there any downtime?
  • The common side effects of Botox are minimal and temporary; you could experience a small amount of redness which quickly reduces and/or small localised bruising which most people find easy to cover up, should they feel the need to. Both are possibilities with any kind of injection
  • Botox is often called one of the 'lunch-break' non-surgical cosmetic procedures as it is a relatively quick treatment with no real recovery time needed, and you can get on with the rest of your day following treatment.
  • If you ever have any questions or concerns at all following any procedure please do not hesitate to contact us - we are always happy to assist and place great importance on your post-procedure care.
when can i expect to see results?
  • It takes 2-3 weeks for Botox to completely kick in - although you may be lucky enough to see some results more quickly, particularly around the eye area
  • You are welcome to  attend a Follow-Up* (review) appointment at that 2-3 week point post-procedure when we will review the results with you. *Please refer to our Policies page for further information regarding Follow-Up appointments.
how do long do the results last?
  • Botox is not permanent and the effects wear away over time. It is recommended that to maintain the results you would have the area treated 2-3 times a year, in order to keep the treatment refined and topped up rather than letting results totally diminish and re-treating from scratch.
  • This helps give you the best results for the longest period
can botox be used with other treatments?
  • Absolutely. We will always make sure you are fully informed and can tailor a personal treatment plan for you according to your concerns. With so many uses for Botox, Dermal Fillers, and Thread Lifts, a combination of some of these treatments may be just the thing to give you the results you are looking for - we can advise you in person
  • Equally we will always act ethically and honestly and will advise you as such if what you have in mind is not what you need, or not going to give you the results you seek
do i need a consultation prior to treatment?
  • Botox is a prescription only medication and prior to prescribing it in our clinics we will go through the consultation stage to ensure that you are medically suitable for treatment and to discuss the results you are hoping to achieve. Consultation is always without obligation as we appreciate that you need space to make the decision which is best for you.
  • Please note, our Consultation Fee* is £70 and we take payment for this as deposit at the point of booking. The Consultation Fee is redeemable off treatment, should you have it (must be used within 3 months) or otherwise covers the consultation. *Please refer to our Policies page for further detail relating to Consultation Fee and Booking Deposit.
how safe is botox/Azzalure?
Botox (Botulinum Toxin type A) has been used medically for a multitude of treatments for over 30 years, for example in adults with multiple sclerosis and in children with cerebral palsy.
It has been licensed for aesthetics treatments for over 10 years with a second-to-none safety profile.
When administered by a  knowledgable and experienced aesthetic practitioner, and prescribed as suitable for you, Botox can be one of the quickest and most effective ways to reduce wrinkles and enhance beauty.

We have, though, set out some of the risks and possible temporary side effects below as we have a clear duty to fully inform.

It is possible, as with most medication, to have an allergic reaction to Botox/Azzalure and the following side effects could indicate this:
  • Difficulties breathing, swallowing or speaking. Face swells, skin goes red  (Uncommon - affecting 1 to 10 users in 1,000)
  • Itchy lumpy rash (Rare - affects 1 to 10 users in 10,000)

Other 'Very Common' normal side effects (affecting more than 1 user in 10) which resolve over time include:
  • Redness; Swelling; Irritation; Rash; Itching; Tingling; Pain; Discomfort; Stinging or Bruising at injection site; Headache

Other 'Common' side effects (affecting 1 to 10 users in 100)
  • Tired eyes or dim vision, drooping of upper eyelid, swelling of eyelid, watering eyes, dry eye, twitching of muscles around the eye
  • Facial paralysis

Other 'Uncommon' side effects (affecting 1 to 10 users in 1,000)
  • Disturbed, blurred or double vision; Dizziness; Itching, rash; Allergic reactions (see above); Eye movement disorder
do injections in this area hurt?
  • Botox treatment for frown lines and crows' feet uses small injections which a short sharp 'ouch' which is over in a matter of seconds. Rosie is an experienced injector and aims to minimise discomfort
  • We take client comfort and pain relief very seriously for all injectable treatments, using the best anaesthetic creams available as required
  • If you have a particular fear of needles please just let us know - you will be treated with sensitivity and care
who is not suitable for botox?
This is not an exhaustive list but we have included some key contraindications for Botox procedures - not suitable for those who:
  • Are pregnant or trying to become pregnant
  • Are breastfeeding
  • Have a history of neurological damage in the upper face
What's the best way to plan a botox procedure around a special occasion?
  • Many people wish to plan a Botox/Azzalure procedure ahead of a wedding, other special event or holiday, to look and feel their best.
  • We recommend that you allow enough time to have the procedure and a review Follow-Up appointment 2-3 weeks after the procedure. Then you should be seeing the optimum results in another 2-3 weeks or so after the Follow-Up. So in total that is 4-6 weeks ahead of your event to allow for things to settle and for the results to really kick in right on time for your occasion.
  • This is not an absolute guide of course and if you have particular questions please do get in touch.
is a review/follow-up appointment offered?
  • Yes, Follow-Up appointments are available at 2-3 weeks post-procedure to review your personal prescription.
  • Please refer to our Policies page to see our T's & C's for Follow-Up appointments or see the link below
Do you offer 'baby botox' treatment?
The phrase 'Baby Botox' was coined not for treating children(!) but for using a light touch with Botox to preserve a natural look and give results which give you a fresh and rested appearance. We always look to achieve the best possible results for you according to your wishes and concerns. So yes, the Baby Botox approach is certainly in-keeping with our approach, but we tailor procedures to each individual with the results you are looking to achieve and your safety as our absolute priorities.
