Botox to Slim the Face and Reduce the Jawline
While Botox®(Botulinum Toxin Type A) is most commonly thought of as an anti-wrinkle treatment to reduce the signs of ageing on the forehead and around the eyes, it has many other clinical uses, both cosmetic and functional.
Its ability to prevent headaches is well known to experienced practitioners, as are the techniques used to reduce excessive sweating. However, here you can find out about how Botox can be injected into the masseter muscles to narrow the jaw and in turn, slim the face with the V-line Procedure (also known as Masseter Muscle Reduction or Jaw Tapering).

Botox for Facial Slimming Treatment FAQ
WHAT DOES THE 'V-LINE PROCEDURE' INVOLVE?
Injecting Botox to relax the masseter muscles is generally performed for one of two indications - firstly it can reduce teeth grinding, and secondly it can reduce the size of the muscles themselves, effectively narrowing and lifting the jaw line, which in turn helps slim the lower third of the face towards a more feminine V shape - hence the name, "The V-Line Procedure".
"Jaw Reduction, also known as the V-Line Procedure or Jaw-Line Tapering is a procedure I've performed for many clients over the years with excellent results." - Rosie

How does botox work to slim the face?
"Sometimes a client may feel that the width of the lower third of their face or angle of their jaw is a little too square or wide, this may be down to genetic makeup and bone structure, or enlargement of the masseter muscles that can occur over time due to excess jaw clenching, teeth grinding, or chewing. In both cases, injecting the muscles in the jaw with Botox will ease tension, reduce their size, and effectively provide more definition to the jaw line and a slimmer appearance to the lower third of the face. In recent years, the V-Line Procedure has become an especially popular request amongst my Asian clients." - Rosie
how safe is botox for jawline shaping?
Botox® (Botulinum Toxin type A) has been in use for over 30 years and has been licensed for aesthetics treatments, including for jawline reduction and facial slimming, for over 10 years with a second-to-none safety profile.
are injections in the jawline painful?
"Botox injections to slim the jaw are only mildly uncomfortable but, as with all injectable treatments at my Oxford and Leamington Spa clinics, I take pain relief very seriously and use the best anaesthetic creams available, applying topically as required prior to injecting. So please just let me know if you are feeling nervous about pain" - Rosie
can just one side of the jawline be treated?
- Sometimes people only have an issue with one side of the face and it is possible to treat asymmetry by only treating one side, but we need to ensure that is the right approach for you so we will only reach a decision on this following thorough consultation and analysis
