botox treatment for excessive sweating
We are highly experienced in providing safe and effective Botox treatment for excessive sweating and hyperhydrosis.
Independent Nurse Prescriber, Rosie Cooper has specialised in aesthetic medicine for over 15 years, performing injectable procedures on an almost daily basis.
Using Botox to prevent sweating is a simple, non-invasive procedure that involves treating the problematic area with a series of injections to relax the sweat glands and reduce excessive perspiration.
While the underarm area is a common request, a number of different areas can be addressed; for example an area of concern for a number of women is just beneath the bust, and this responds very well to treatment.
The treatment is highly effective and may reduce sweating by as much as around 90%.
It is also worth noting that when Botox is used to remove wrinkles (for example on the forehead) sweating will often be reduced in the treated area too.
Botulinum toxin is a prescription-only procedure and will only be performed following our face-to-face medical consultation.

frequently asked questions
Is Botox treatment for excessive sweating safe?
Botox (Botulinum Toxin) has been used for a multitude of medical treatments for over 30 years, in both adults and children. It has been licensed for cosmetic purposes for around 18 years, with a second-to-none safety profile. Botox injections to treat excessive sweating are very safe when performed by a medical professional. The treatment itself uses a prescription-only medically regulated toxin, so it can only be administered by a qualified medical professional such as Independent Nurse Prescriber, Rosie Cooper.
Who can have Botox treatment?
Botox treatment may be suitable for anyone suffering from excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis. Botox treatment will only be prescribed after a medical consultation. Please note that key contraindications include pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Are there any side effects?
The most common side effects of Botox treatment are minimal and temporary. You might experience a small amount of redness which quickly reduces and/or localised bruising, which are both possibilities with any kind of injection. Botox injections are known as one of the 'lunch-break' cosmetic procedures since they are relatively quick with no real recovery time needed, and you can get on with the rest of your day following treatment. If you ever have any questions or concerns following any procedure, please do not hesitate to contact us - we are always happy to assist and place great importance on your post-procedure care.
When can I expect to see results?
It takes around 2-3 weeks for Botox results to take full effect and help prevent excessive sweating; although some people may see or feel some results more quickly.
How long does Botox last?
Botox results are not permanent, and the effects wear off over time. It is recommended that to maintain the results of Botox injections you would have treatment 2-3 times a year, in order to keep the treatment refined and topped up, rather than letting results totally diminish and starting again from scratch. This approach helps to give the best results, and therefore relief from excessive sweating and hyperhidrosis, for the longest period.
