How Can Dermal Filler Be Corrected?
The effects of a dermal filler procedure can effectively be reversed with the use of Hyalase (hyaluronidase) which will be injected into the previously treated area(s) to dissolve the product which was placed there.
What Types of Dermal Fillers Can be Dissolved?
All brands of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) based dermal fillers can be effectively dissolved, including Emervel, Restylane, Juvederm, Perlane, Teosyal, and Belotero. Those which are not HA-based, such as Radiesse or permanent filler using Silicone, cannot be dissolved with Hyalase.
Which Areas Can Be Corrected?
All dermal filler procedures where the products described above have been used. So this includes treatments for the:
- Lips
- Cheeks
- Chin
- Glabellar lines (vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows)
- Nasolabial folds (nose-to-mouth/laughter lines)
- Perioral lines (smokers lines around the mouth)
- Under eye area (tear trough)
- Hands
- If there are facial or other areas not mentioned just get in touch with us to discuss
How Many Reversal Treatments Will I Need?
In many cases just one treatment will be required but if a particularly deep area has been filled, a lot of product has been used, and/or the filler has been present for some time, you may need to return for a further one or two visits which could involve further cost. Your results and safety are our utmost priorities. We will give you an indication of this at the time of consultation.
Is Dissolving Dermal Filler with Hyalase Safe?
Dissolving unwanted dermal filler with Hyalase is a very safe procedure. Hyalase has been used for many years in thousands of people in eye surgery for correction of cataracts as well as in many other safe and effective medical uses. The only major contra-indications for a reversal procedure is where you are pregnant/might be pregnant or have a known previous allergy to Hyalase.
Can an Area be Re-Treated Following Dissolution?
Once a product has been dissolved it is fine to re-treat if you are certain that is the best course of action for you. We would advise that you wait a few weeks following the reversal before looking at re-treating to ensure that the area has fully settled and healed. At that point we can discuss with you the results you are seeking from a re-treatment and whether/how far these are achievable.
Is There Any Downtime with Dermal Filler Reversal?
There is very minimal downtime connected with the dermal filler reversal procedure. Slight, minimal bruising is the most common risk associated with this procedure (as is the case with any injections).
what is the cost for dermal filler removal?

do i need a consultation prior to dermal filler removal or correction?
Yes, we will need to see you to assess in a face-to-face Consultation what is the best course of action for you in terms of whether the filler ought to be dissolved and to plan with you if any re-treatment is desired. If you would like to come for a Consultation just to get an initial second opinion that is fine too. It will be particularly important for us to know exactly which product has been used.
Please note, our Consultation Fee is £70 and we take payment for this as deposit at the point of booking.
