The Rise of the 'Tweakment' - The Cosmetic Trend That's Here to Stay

2/1/2018

cosmetic treatment trends revealed

The latest figures from The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) released February 2018 reveal that more British women are shunning facial surgery. The number of female facelifts carried out in 2017 was down by a huge 44% decrease, and brow lifts dropped by nearly a third. Meanwhile the number of non-surgical procedures continues to rise, with a report by Mintel showing that 90% of cosmetic interventions in the UK are now non-surgical.

The trend for less-invasive procedures and less obvious results
At the start of  year The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) – the world’s largest association of facial plastic surgeons – released the data from their annual survey. It showed that looking unnatural is a top fear for many when it comes to cosmetic interventions - people increasingly want to look good without others thinking they've 'had something done'.

A holistic approach to maintaining the face

The latest innovative 'tweakment' options can help people achieve excellent cosmetic results at greatly reduced risk, downtime and financial cost compared to more invasive options.
We believe there can be no 'one-size fits all' when it comes to anti-ageing, for example there's no magic age at which it's suddenly 'the best time to start botox' - it varies so much individually.

In order to restore or maintain the face a multi-faceted and absolutely tailor-made approach needs to be taken, taking into account a person's concerns and preferences. It used to be the case that many people thought one good facelift was the answer but now people are increasingly well-educated about non-surgical options; in part thanks to the amount of online information and more open discussion for example with celebrities and online bloggers documenting their treatments.

Taking the full face into account helps to make any change in-keeping and natural-looking. A good aesthetic practitioner can formulate a full face treatment plan in accordance with you.

What are some of the 'tweakment' options available?

Our experience in our own clinics mirrors the wider trends as botox procedures followed by dermal fillers and skin procedures are our most-requested treatments. It's exciting that there are now so many safe and effective non-surgical options to combat a whole host of concerns and to allow people more choice according to their preferences.

Profhilo

Profhilo is the hyaluronic acid dermal filler alternative is a skin rejuvenator that can help you 'remodel your look in 5 minutes'. It addresses the full face with minimal injections, helping to contour, soften lines and hydrate the skin, as well as boosting your skin's collagen and elastin production.

Our clients love it and so do we thanks to its minimal downtime, short treatment time, and suitability for all skin types.

The Non-Surgical Eye Lift

Plexr is the non-surgical blepharoplasty procedure which is even recommended by plastic surgeons. Unlike plastic surgery, the Plexr procedure involves no cutting, no stitching, no general anesthetic, not to mention much less downtime. It is a very low risk procedure with a quick treatment time and great results.

'Baby Botox'

This phrase was cleverly coined by practitioners to describe the soft touch approach that we and some others take to soften and minimise lines while maintaining expression and character.

A clever use of Botox can effectively lift the brow, or neck (the 'botox neck lift'), and refine the jawline – our approach is to refresh the face by softening lines, people in general want to look well-rested rather than frozen!

Mini Thread Lift

So-called 'mini threads' are a great option for lifting and tightening the mid and lower face and underneath the jaw. You may have seen the, very good fun, ITV programme '100 Years Younger in 21 Days' recently in which Sherrie Hewson had her mid-face lifted with mini threads.

These are PDO threads similar to those used in the thread facelift or 'puppet lift' but they are smaller in size and less invasive than the cog or barbed threads. In some cases they can even be used as an alternative to tear trough filler in the under eye area.

Dermal Fillers

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers have moved on… Teosyal RHA is an innovative range of products which are Rosie's top choice for many dermal filler procedures in our clinics thanks to its purity and long-lasting, fantastically natural results. Rosie always look at the face as a whole rather than ‘spot-filling’ facial lines.
Here at Oxford & Leamington Facial Aesthetics we love keeping up with the latest treatment and product innovations in aesthetic medicine. Rather than following one brand, we continually reassess the available options to ensure we offer clients the safest procedures with the best aesthetic results. It's exciting that people are now more empowered than ever to choose the cosmetic options that will suit them best.
